Here at Le Green hotels & Amazing places, we ensure that your holiday experience remains ‘responsible’. Large resorts are not only often owned by foreign investors, meaning that none of the profits will benefit the local economy, but all the supplies needed to run the resorts are often sourced from far afield, leaving little or no benefit to the local communities. It’s only in the last few years that climate change and global warming have become ‘in’ topics, but they have been a problem for far longer than that. Although we are great fans of travel, we believe that everyone should be aware of the damaging carbon emissions which are created by road and air travel.
By its very nature, Le Green Hotels & Resorts advocates individual style properties. Many of the properties are owned by local people thereby ensuring that money is funneled straight back into the local economy. We recommend that anyone staying in a Le Green Hotel or Amazing places sources their food, supplies and services locally and supports the local communities wherever possible. We at Le Green Hotels try to recycle as much as possible and use paperless communication to reduce wastes. Le Green also train their staff to follow a green program with respect to our office operations. Our staff is encouraged to participate in environmental conservation programs.
Partnership to reduce global warming
Le Green Hotels & Amazing places have joined with climate care to help repair the biggest environmental impact – greenhouse gas emissions from air travel. Climate Care is an organization which funds projects with the specific aim of making reductions in carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas concentrations, in order to reduce climate change. The projects are either technology projects that reduce emissions at source or reforestation projects that sequester CO2 from the atmosphere. The technology projects, which are their main focus, can be either in renewable energy or in energy efficiency. Le Green Hotels & Amazing Places are committed to ‘offsetting’ all our business energy and emissions usage – making our business climate neutral . This is done by funding projects across the world that reduce greenhouse gases through green energy or rainforest restoration. If you'd like more information, see www.climatecare.org.
Le Green Hotels believe that anyone going on holiday has a responsibility to the community in which they are staying. It is important to be aware that something which is seen as ‘the norm’ in your own country might be far from it in the country you are visiting. Get yourself a guidebook of the area / country before you go and read up on any local customs, cultures and traditions – not only is this the responsible way to travel, but it can save you some embarrassing situations as well! Buy local produce, not imported goods – it will almost always taste better, and will ensure that you are supporting local farmers and producers. Finally, be aware when buying souvenirs – things made by local craftsmen tend to be a good bet, but do be careful not to buy products made from hardwoods or endangered species.
